MAINTENANCE MODE

id000000703000

Introduction

• The PHEV vehicle engine is automatically operated/stopped depending on the high voltage battery and the driving conditions.
• It is necessary to operate the engine optionally depending on the contents of the inspection/servicing and the malfunction diagnosis.
• The engine can be started optionally by selecting maintenance mode according to the purpose of use.

Number of times accelerator pedal is depressed

Output limit warning light status

Description

Compulsory engine start mode
5 times
1. Output limit warning light flashes 5 times
2. Repeats Steps 1
Mode for forcibly starting/operating the engine to generate power.
For details, refer to [COMPULSORY ENGINE START MODE].(See: Compulsory engine start mode)
Idle emission mode
7 times
1. Output limit warning light flashes 7 times
2. Repeats Steps 1
Mode for forcibly starting/operating the engine to generate power.
For details, refer to [IDLE EMISSION MODE].(See: Idle emission mode)

Motor/engine operation status
• Engine is running (power generation operation)
• Engine speed changes according to accelerator opening angle
• Drivable
• Output limit warning light flashes repeatedly during mode implementation
• Engine is running (non-power generating operation)
• Engine speed changes according to accelerator opening angle
• Undrivable
• Output limit warning light flashes repeatedly during mode implementation
Mode implementation conditions
• P position
• High voltage battery SOC: 5% or more
• High voltage battery temperature: -10―50 degrees C
• Electric drive system malfunction: None
• P position
• High voltage battery SOC: 5% or more
• High voltage battery temperature: -10―50 degrees C
• DTC storage: None
• Electric drive system malfunction: None
Mode stop condition
• Main power OFF
• After engine start, main power OFF (If the main power is switched OFF without starting the engine, the mode continues and the engine starts at the next Ready ON.)
• Shift position: Shifts to position other than P position

Maintenance Procedure in Maintenance Mode

No

Operation contents

1
Within 60 s
Switch the ignition ON (Ready off) under the following conditions.
• Shift position: P position
• Brake pedal: Not depressed
2
Depress the accelerator pedal for the number of times corresponding to the desired mode to be switched to while depressing the brake pedal.(See: Maintenance Mode List)
3
Release the brake pedal and depress the accelerator pedal again the same number of times.
4
Depress the accelerator pedal the same number of times again while depressing the brake pedal again.
5
Release the brake pedal.
6
When the output limit warning light flashes and is turned off repeatedly for the number of times corresponding to the desired mode to be switched to, the preparation for switching to maintenance mode is completed. (See: Maintenance Mode List)
If the output limit warning light does not flash because the transition to maintenance mode has failed, switch the ignition OFF and verify if the implementation permit conditions are met. If there is no problem, repeat the procedure from Step 1.
Note
• When the preparation for switching to maintenance mode is completed, maintenance mode is not completed even if the ignition is switched OFF.
• The mode returns to the transition preparation completion status by switching the ignition ON again after switching the ignition OFF.
7
Depress the brake pedal again and switch the main power ON to switch to the desired mode.
8
Work in maintenance mode.
9
Switch the ignition OFF.

Maintenance Mode Details

Compulsory engine start mode

• Mode for forcibly starting/operating the engine to generate power.
Implementation permit conditions (Implementation can be done when all the following conditions are met)
• Charged capacity of high voltage battery: 5 % or more
• High voltage battery temperature: -10 to 50 degrees C
• High voltage battery inputtable power: 20 kW or more
• DTCs related to engine are not stored
• No malfunction in hybrid system
Cancel condition (canceled when any of the following conditions is met)
• Main power OFF
Operation
1. The engine is started when switching to compulsory engine start mode
2. The drive motor performs normal control.
3. Engine speed changes according to accelerator opening angle
4. The power meter changes according to the engine output.
5. Drivable during compulsory engine start mode implementation.
6. The output limit warning light flashes repeatedly during mode implementation.
