Disconnect Negative Lead-Acid Battery Terminal
With e-SKYACTIV PHEV
1.Verify that the charge cable is not connected to the charging port.
2.Keep the driver's door open.
3.Keep the hood open.
4.Keep the main power switched ON (READY on) for 3 s or more.
5.Switch the main power OFF and start measuring the time since the main power was switched OFF using a stopwatch.
6.Switch the main power OFF and wait for 5 min.
7.Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal within 25 min from switching the main power OFF in Step 5 using the following procedure.

Electric Variable Valve Timing Actuator Installation Note
1.When replacing the electric variable valve timing actuator with a new one, mark the same positions with paint· those marked during removal.
2.Remove the rope suspending the timing chain from the intake side.

3.Place the electric variable valve timing actuator between the engine front cover and cylinder head, removing the timing chains from the exhaust and intake camshaft sprockets and moving them towards the rear.

4.Return the timing chain to the exhaust camshaft sprocket.
5.While aligning the paint mark on the timing chain marked during removal with the one on the electric variable valve timing actuator, engage the chain with the sprocket.

6.Align the knock pin on the end of the intake camshaft with the notch on the actuator side and assemble the actuator.
