COOLANT SWITCHING VALVE (CSV) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION/INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0]
Warning
– A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before servicing.
– If the cooling system cap or the water-cooled charge air cooler reserve tank cap is removed when the engine is hot, steam and boiling water may be injected, causing severe burns or severe injury. Perform the removal of the cooling system cap and water-cooled charge air cooler reserve tank cap when the engine is cool.
– Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool. Even then, be very careful when removing the cap. Wrap a thick cloth around it and slowly turn it counterclockwise to the first stop. Step back while the pressure escapes.
– When you are sure all the pressure is gone, press down on the cap using the cloth, turn it, and remove it.
Steps:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Open the engine cover.
3. Remove the rear wall.
4. Remove the No.3 engine mount.
5. Drain the engine coolant.
6. Disconnect the A/F sensor wiring harness clip.
7. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
9. Refill the engine coolant.

COOLANT SWITCHING VALVE (CSV) INSPECTION
DTC inspection
1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
2. Start the engine and warm it up completely.
3. Turn the A/C switch off and leave the engine idling for 5 min.
4. Using the M-MDS, perform a DTC inspection and verify that P26A3:00 is not stored.
If P26A3:00 is stored, repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
5. Perform the PID/data monitor inspection.
PID/DATA monitor inspection:
1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
2. Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
3. Display simulation item ENG_COOL_VLV_POS_DUTY using the M-MDS.
4. Verify that an operation sound is heard from the coolant switching valve when the valve is driven with the simulation item ENG_COOL_VLV_POS_DUTY set to 50%.
If it cannot be verified, inspect visually.
Visual inspection
Warning:
– A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the coolant switching valve.
1. disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the coolant switching valve.
3. Visually inspect the coolant switching valve for the following.
– Damage or cracking.
– Clogging wit dirt or foreign matter in the coolant passage of the coolant switching valve.
– Coolant switching valve is open (normal condition).
If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the coolant switching valve.
