ELECTRIC THERMOSTAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Replacement Part
O-ring Quantity: 1 Location of use: Electric thermostat | Gasket Quantity: 1 Location of use:Electric thermostat |
Warning:
– Never remove the cooling system cap or loosen the radiator drain plug while the engine is running, or when the engine and radiator are hot. Scalding engine coolant and steam may shoot out and cause serious injury. It may also damage the engine and cooling system.
– Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool. Even then, be very careful when removing the cap. Wrap a thick cloth around it and slowly turn it counterclockwise to the first stop. Step back while the pressure escapes.
– When you are sure all the pressure is gone, press down on the cap using the cloth, turn it, and remove it.
Note:
The electric thermostat heater is built into theelectric thermostat. When replacing the electric thermostat heater, replace the electric thermostat.
Steps:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Drain the transaxle oil (MTX) or ATF (ATX). (2WD)
4. Drain the transfer oil. (AWD)
5. Disconnect the front drive shaft (RH) from the transaxle side and set is aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing.
6. Remove using the procedure shown in the figure.
7. Add transaxle oil (MTX) or ATF (ATX). (2WD)
8. Add transfer oil. (AWD)
9. Add engine coolant.
ELECTRIC THERMOSTAT HEATER INSPECTION
Warning:
– If the cooling system cap or the water-cooled charge air cooler reserve tank cap is removed when the engine is hot, steam and boiling water may be injected, causing severe burns or severe injury.
Note:
– Immediately after the electric thermostat heater is energized, the heater is in a heated state and the resistance does not stabilize. Wait for a sufficient time before measuring the resistance again.
Resistance Inspection:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Disconnect the electric thermostat heater connector.
